A Brief History

Moen Industries 1951-1955Moen Industries (then known as Moen Machine Works) was founded in 1951 by former President Lenard Moen and his father Wilber. Located in a Quonset hut type building in Santa Fe Springs, California, the company was primarily a job shop for machined metal parts.

In 1955, Moen moved to another location in Santa Fe Springs and entered into fabrication and repair work in addition to their job shop activities.

Soon after, woodworking and handling machinery became part of their line as Moen began designing and fabricating proprietary products. About the same time, the company began repairing automatic packaging machines.

Moen moved to this location in 1955.
This location was directly across the
streeet from our present location.

First Automated BLISS Former
The experience gained in repairing packaging equipment prompted Moen to design and patent their own machine in 1964. The result was the first machine to automatically assemble and hot melt glue Bliss style corrugated containers in high speed production. This machine was the forerunner to our PF103, PF106 & PF129 series Bliss Formers.

With the addition of packaging machinery to their list of proprietary products, Moen moved to a 13,600 square foot building to help meet the demand created by the new Moen Bliss Former in the fresh fruit and produce industry.

Moen Industries 1964-1975

In 1964, Moen moved to this larger 13,600 square foot
facility to accomodate the rapid rise in demand for
proprrietary Moen products.

Moen spent the next ten years at this new Santa Fe Springs location, manufacturing hundreds of formers for the heavy fruit growing regions in California and Florida.

New 38,000 Square Foot Facility
By 1975, Moen designed a full line of Bliss and Tray Formers and had completed a move to our present location in Santa Fe Springs, now under the direction of Carl L. Moen, President and Owner. Directly across the street from our second location, this facility contains 38,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space.

Moen Introduces H-Bliss Box
Three years later, Moen introduced a new machine and box design that has become one of the more important developments in Bliss corrugated packaging since the Bliss box forming process was first automated in 1964. This machine is our model PF106-HLV H-Bliss Former and the container is the H-Bliss box.

Need For Displayable Packaging
This marketing shift yielded a new Moen machine design specifically for display ready applications; The Moen model PF106-LB Lamo-Bliss Former.

The need for better displayable packaging prompted other container designs for point of purchase display. The Internal Flange Bliss Display, H-Bliss Display, and Lamo-Tray all became popular based on their individual strengths.

It wasn't until the 1990's and the increased popularity of the Club and Warehouse Stores, that displayable packaging became a necessity for every producer who looked to remain competitive.

Since 1964, Moen Industries has been a leader in manufacturing high quality, high speed packaging equipment for a variety of high strength corrugated box designs. Moen Industries produces box forming and sealing equipment for a variety of display box designs seen in Clubstores and Warehouse Stores today.
